RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet and acknowledge all guests in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to Fairmont Hotels and Resort standards (no guests waits longer than 1 minute to be acknowledged).
  • To resolve any guest issues in a timely, professional and efficient manner.
  • Liaison with the Manager On Duty to ensure that the flow of service in the room is well organized and running smoothly (section assignment, breaks, staff on duty and so forth).
  • To oversee and ensure smooth flow through of guests by seating our guests in accordance to business volumes while ensuring that our guests will receive timely service.
  • “Touch” each table to ensure food and service quality meets FH&R standards.
  •  To ensure sufficient stock of menu inventory.
  • To ensure that outlet is well presented to the lobby at all times.
  • To ensure that the reservation book is properly maintained.
  • Bring any concerns to the attention of the Manager On Duty (related to internal or external guests, food or service quality operation of the room, physical surroundings or plant).
  • To take the lead role in outlet operation in the absence of the Manager on Duty.
  • Actively participate in the Chateau Whistler’s environmental program and department specific initiatives in working towards sustainable operations.
  • To be Health & Safety conscious and actively involved in maintaining a safe work environment.
  • May be scheduled shifts in other Food & Beverage Departments as assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BC Food Safe Certificate is required.
  • Must have minimum 1year experience in a guest service position.
  • Must have previous F&B front of house experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and non-verbal) with strong salesmanship skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor (exceptional grooming standards).
  • Must be able to handle stressful situations with proven problem solving abilities.
  • Assertive with an ability to diplomatically control the flow of service.
  • Must be self-directed and possess natural leadership skills – with the ability to guide others.
  • Team player with excellent guest service skills, energetic, outgoing, reliable and punctual.
  • Previous experience in a 4-diamond hotel environment is an asset.
  • A Degree or Diploma in Hotel/Hospitality or Tourism is an asset.
  • Thorough working knowledge of Whistler is an asset.
  • A second language and previous supervisory experience are assets.
