National Insurance Number
& Registering with a GP

Step 1 – Apply for a National Insurance Number

What’s National Insurance?

National Insurance (NI) is your golden ticket! It’s a system where both workers and employers contribute to qualify for benefits. Think of it as your passport to accessing important services while you’re in the UK!

Get Your National Insurance Number

As soon as you arrive, it’s time to snag your NI Number. This unique number tracks your contributions. To get it:

Gather Your Info: You’ll need to provide some personal details, including proof of identity and where you’ll be living.  You can use the address of your hostel, hotel, or shared accommodation once you have been allocated your slot.

Enjoy the Benefits!

Because you’ve paid into National Insurance, you get access to amazing services like the NHS! 🏥 This means when you get a cough, a cold, or just need a check-up, healthcare services are free at the point of use. From visiting the doctor to hospital care, you’re covered!

Remember: Paying into National Insurance isn’t just a chore; it’s your way of securing your health and well-being while you embark on your UK adventure!

Now, go out there and experience everything the UK has to offer—safely and healthily! 😊

If you are travelling on a Visa, please note that you won’t be able to apply for a National Insurance (tax) Number until you have arrived in the UK and completed your online registration for your BRP card.
